Yahoo!7 News: Canadian Howling Noises Bigfoot or Hoax?

Still shot from First video
The first video was recorded on January 12th. The second one, January 15th is embedded below. These are similar howls, but they sound more like Jurassic Park than Bigfoot. Either way, these are haunting sounds that were recorded on video, 2 days apart and 1000km (620 miles) away from each other.

UPDATE: The strange sounds phenomenon continues to spread, with videos popping up from Canada and around the world featuring similar noises. The weird sounds have allegedly been recorded in a number of cities, including Winnipeg, Chicago and Glasgow. While many viewers are intrigued, others are equally skeptical about the strange sounds. Is this the latest Internet meme?
The Huffington Post Canada first spotted a video recorded in an Alberta forest featuring bizarre sounds on Jan. 16. The video – which was originally uploaded on Jan. 13 – has already received more than 1.2 million views. A user created a video earlier this week that compiled a bunch of posts, including the video from Conklin, Atla. Src: Huffington Post

Two videos of howling noises have been recorded in Canada, leading some to believe it may be a bigfoot, or yeti.
The Huffington Post reports the first video was posted on January 13 and it recorded strange sounds in a remote forest north-east of Edmonton.
The noises, which sound like they may be just an elaborate hoax, have racked up more than 500,000 video views online.
Another video surfaced on January 15 and included similar noises but it was recorded more than 1000km away.People commenting on the videos claim it could be anything from aliens to bigfoot.
However, common sense would suggest we've seen this type of thing before and it may just be some people trying to get their 15 minutes of fame.
A bigfoot sighting in the US last year also sparked interest around the world.
It's worth remembering that not one piece of scientific evidence backing the existence of a bigfoot has ever been discovered.

BC Columnist Remembers Sasquatch

Sasquatch leaves a lasting memory

One of my co-workers asked me, jokingly, if I saw any sasquatches on my recent holidays.

No, but ….

A few of us in the newsroom are mountain bikers and encounter the occasional deer and bear on our wilderness excursions.

They scurry off at the sight of creatures with shiny, coloured heads that ride on animals with round black hooves by grabbing their antlers and rapidly kicking the enslaved beasts.

When you ride by yourself and stop for a drink and a snack you sometimes get that eerie feeling someone or something is watching you.

I’ve never seen a sasquatch on the Island – I guess most other people haven’t either – but, a bunch of us kids were pretty sure that’s we saw one night at summer camp many years ago.

I was 11 in July 1969 when my mother sent me to Camp Jubilee, about halfway up Indian Arm east of Vancouver.

Camp activities involved a lot of swimming, hiking, archery and verbally and physically bullying each other to establish the pecking orders in our cabins.

One afternoon we hiked into the bush to camp overnight in a wide dry creek bed. As it got dark, kids hunkered down in the rocks for the night. I found a comfortable spot in the boulders.

Some boys caught little lizards that ran around in the rocks. Occasionally a kid would let out a yelp when his new pet bit him.

We were settling down when we heard something trucking through the woods, snapping branches as it went, seemingly unconcerned about the noise it made. A bear maybe?

The last of the twilight was fading, but the moon was full, so there was plenty of light to see by. What walked out of the woods was no bear.

It was about 12 metres from us, not just walking upright, but taking big easy strides across the rocks. About halfway across the creek bed it stopped, as if it realized suddenly that we were there, and turned to look at us.

It was nearly two metres tall and its body was proportioned just like a large man’s, except its forearms were a little longer than ours, so its hands hung closer to its knees.

Its body was covered in hair, but it was so fine, almost like an Irish setter’s, that you could see its muscle definition underneath. I remember his forearm muscles being clearly defined and, yup, “it” was definitely a “he”.

He just stood there and sort of regarded us for a moment as we gaped back in stunned silence. His face appeared human and was covered in an even finer layer of hair. His eyes were a medium shade and when I looked in them I remember thinking, “That’s a man.”

Then he turned and continued on his way. The sound of branches snapping started again when he entered the woods and eventually faded into the distance.

The encounter didn’t frighten me. I was simply amazed. Our silence broke when a few terrified kids started freaking out and crying.

We ran to our counsellors’ campsite in wooded area not far down the creek to tell them what happened. They were just teenagers themselves, and were sitting around a campfire talking and playing guitars. They just told us to get lost.

In the morning we found a narrow trail paralleling the creek bed and saw branches snapped off the trees about shoulder height of the creature. The counsellors found this a bit strange, but figured it must have been a bear.

I’ve seen films on TV and heard sensational stories about sasquatches over the years, but none of those have ever described anything like what we saw that night.

Olympic Torch to be Passed in Front of Bigfoot

According to a CNN iReport this is the Bigfoot statue that will witness the passing of the torch for the 2010 Winter Olympics being held in Canada.

This is Bigfoot's contribution to the Olympic torch run, and the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics. Bigfoot is located on the Trans Canada Highway in Vermilion Bay, Ontario (between Kenora and Dryden). He is anxiously awaiting to see the Olympic Torch pass in front of him sometime in early January.
Happy holidays, The Langs

You can go to the original iReport here.

We decided we needed to know more about this statue so we did some research.

Date Built: Late 1950's or early 1960's. Moved to present location in 1982.
Height: 18 Feet (5.5 Metres)
Weight: 3,800 pounds.
Made of: Cement and iron
Located: Trans Canada Highway, in front of a gas station.

Background: As far as the current owners are aware, the statue was made by a man who visited the area. It took him an entire summer to make it.

Surprisingly, even though it is pretty heavy, this monument seems to move around a bit. It was located in the nearby community of Waldhof until 1982, when it was purchased by Liz and Max Lang to place in front of their gas station.

There is a speaker inside the figure with a microphone at the garage so that "Big Foot" can occasionaly talk to people who stop and take their picture in front of it.

Bf Snowprints in Canada

Brian Vike snapped this photo of what he believes is a sasquatch footprint in Moricetown, B.C.

Blood on a snow fragment is being tested.

A Ruler showing Prints close to 17" in Length

Brian Vike believes he has photographic evidence that sasquatches exist.

No, he doesn’t have a photo of a sasquatch, but he does have a photo of a very large footprint.

The Houston, B.C.-based UFO researcher has developed a soft spot for the mythical furry creatures, and got an excited call last Sunday from the remote community of Moricetown.

“I made the 90-minute drive up there, and I was amazed at what I saw,” Vike told The Province. “I’ve been on some of those turkey runs, when there’s nothing to see.

“But there were footprints, 17-and-a-half inches in length, that went on for a long ways.

“The stride is three feet six inches from the front of the foot to the back of the heel.”

More tellingly for Vike, the snow around the prints was untouched.

“There were no tracks around to show that somebody was trying to pull a gag.”

Vike, who tracks UFO sightings, got even more excited when he found blood in one of the prints.

“I’m sending it off for testing in Saskatchewan and Ohio. We also have a hair sample.”

Sasquatches are allegedly ape-like beings that apparently are quite shy, since they don’t seem to interact with humans much.

Like the yeti and the ogopogo, sightings are frequently reported, but no conclusive proof of their existence has ever been found.

On the other hand, conclusive proof that they do not exist does not exist.
